Has someone ever said to you, “You’ve got a great voice,” or “Have you ever thought about being a singer,” or given you another compliment about your singing and your immediate thought was, “Really? Are they just saying that? How do I know if I’ve got a good voice?”
We hear this from our students all the time, and it’s one of the reasons they come to our studio in Latham, NY for a voice consultation. Jeff Moore, our lead voice instructor who is Berklee College trained and is a master certified instructor in The Vocalist Studio Method, works with singers during the consultation to assess fundamental singing skills: How well can you match pitch? How are your aural skills? How well can you keep rhythm? Can you harmonize? Knowing how a singer performs on each of these skills helps us build a training plan to build on their strengths and help them address their weak areas.
The singing consultation is one of the most popular parts of our singing program, and we have decided to turn what we do in that consultation into a mobile application so more singers can learn about their voice and assess their progress at a fraction of what it costs to hire a vocal coach. At this writing, the app is currently in development, and we’re inviting local singers in the Capital District including Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Colonie, Latham, Clifton Park and other surrounding communities to be a part of our exclusive beta testing group.
To be a part of the group, please complete the form below, and we’ll keep you posted with updates, free resources to help you improve your singing over the next few months, and exclusive access to the app before it is released to the public. We are limiting the size of the beta testing group, so please sign up before the all the spaces are gone.
